High There! This week, please prepare as we have a highly important, yet potentially triggering discussion about mental health issues like PTSD and Suicide. Today, I had the pleasure of being joined by Haley Higgins, a journalist and cannabis advocate who founded the Cannabis for Veteran’s Alliance. Haley shares with us what makes her so passionate about cannabis, and what drove her to move her advocacy into full swing after the passing of her uncle.
Over 20 Veterans lose their lives every day to suicide, with at least 20 more lives added to that total when opiate abuse in included. This devastating number of lives lost each passing year, month, and even with each passing week continues to go unmentioned by most with no solutions being put in place to try to combat this issue. Some of the first steps we can take, if we know a veteran in our lives, is to just reach out and let them know that they have somebody they can reach out to when they need it most. Is extremely hard for veterans to find the adequate mental health resources available out there, so with each passing day we need to continue to spread knowledge and fight for equal plant rights for those who’ve sacrificed their lives to protect our basic rights.
